We are a leading company in the construction industry, seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Employee Relations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing employee relations, conflict resolution, and partnership building. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of policies and procedures, and the ability to coach and mentor team members.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations when necessary.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Develop, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain employee documentation, including disciplinary records, performance improvement plans, and termination paperwork.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Partner with other departments to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations.
- Coach and mentor at management level to develop leadership capabilities.
- Serve as a bilingual resource for employees and management, with proficiency in Spanish.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities with the ability to analyze complex information.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure, remain flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required.
