Perform civil engineering design and calculations for the following facilities:
Storm water management, retention and sediment control ponds, sizing the ditches, culverts, and various ponds.
Water and slurry pipelines, including valve stations, air valves and low point drains.
Site development (roads, pipeline corridors, facility pads, rough grading, site preparation / foundations excavation, finished grading and surface drainage)
Pipe and open channel hydraulics.
Conduct thorough review and checks on civil engineering design drawings.
Prepare contract and procurement technical support documents such as scopes of work, specifications, and bills of quantities.
Conduct site visits and field investigations for the construction and modification of mining and industrial facilities and services when required.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, design criteria, and detailed material take-offs.
Work with and lead civil designers.
Site visits and coordination with Construction/Trades.
Establish good working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Contributing to the preparation of technical specifications and engineering input to material, construction, and commissioning packages.
Providing engineering technical support to the field during construction, including responding to RFIs from construction contractors, issuing Site Instructions and performing field reviews.
Involvement in the development of proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents.
Qualifications
Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility to register or already registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
4-8 years of experience in civil engineering design within mining, energy and/or industrial projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed design.
Solid experience in site development, and pipe and open channel hydraulics.
Tailings / slurry piping design experience is an asset.
Working knowledge of various piping materials, fittings and joining methods.
Sound knowledge in storm water management, stormwater runoff calculations, sizing the ditches, culverts, and ponds.
Experience in interpreting and applying geotechnical design recommendations on civil designs is an asset.
Good understanding of various coordinate systems and survey controls.
Excellent organizational, technical, communication and computer skills.
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
