- To implement and monitor Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and Procedures;
- objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of learners, staff, and visitors.
- To establish budget proposals for the operation of the Occupational Health and Safety office and specific training programs;
- To increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization;
- To investigate and report on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to staff and/or visitors to the appropriate senior official, and to assist in the investigation of all accidents/incidents that result in substantial damage to the property;
- To investigate and report on complaints of hazardous working conditions to the department head.
- To respond to employees safety concerns;
- To conduct, as necessary, the safety inspection of any facility;
- To respond to fire and other emergencies on or about the company property;
- To coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste;
- To arrange for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by external agencies/consultants as may be necessary;
- To coordinate as liaison with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies;
- To coordinate the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, workplace inspections, and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in Board facilities;
- To assist executive staff, senior administrators, Managers, and supervisors in emergency preparedness;
- To implement appropriate sections of the department s Emergency Procedures Manual;
- To liaise with the municipality and Emergency planners, update plans, organize exercises and evaluate procedures;
- To liaise with the fire department regarding emergency procedures, communications, and fire safety education programs;
- To assume other duties as maybe assigned
- visiting various projects to inspect processes and procedures and ensure good health and safety practices;
- investigating accidents and complaints and determining if there has been a breach of health and safety law;
- Carrying out examinations of machinery, working environments, and structures, taking measurements of noise, heat, and vibrations, and taking photographs and samples where necessary;
- Ensuring workers are provided with suitable protective equipment, such as eye goggles, ear protectors, or appropriate types of gloves and clothing;
- Responsible for any ISO-related activities.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degrees or equivalent
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (Mandatory)
- IOSH Managing Safely and Working Safely
- IMS certification
- ISO Certification (Mandatory)
- Over 5 years of experience preferably within the Building Services or Facilities Management industries.
- Required to hold a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
Bachelor's Degrees or equivalent NEBOSH International General Certificate (Mandatory) IOSH Managing Safely and Working Safely IMS certification ISO Certification (Mandatory) Over 5 years of experience preferably within the Building Services or Facilities Management industries. Required to hold a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
