Shift Technician
Job Summary
- Report to the Duty Engineer / Engineering Supervisor on shift activities outstanding issues work orders equipment status and incidents.
- Take ownership of electrical maintenance during the assigned shift including troubleshooting corrective repairs inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Respond promptly to guest room public area back-of-house and engineering maintenance requests and restore equipment to safe operating condition with minimum disruption to hotel operations.
- Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting of electrical distribution lighting power controls sockets switches dimmers LV systems motors pumps and associated electrical equipment.
- Inspect and maintain electrical panels DBs MCCs isolators breakers contactors relays emergency lighting and other electrical installations.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings single-line diagrams schematics control drawings equipment manuals and building services drawings.
- Carry out safe electrical isolation and reinstatement in accordance with hotel procedures permits and applicable safety requirements.
- Perform planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance and ensure work orders and maintenance records are accurately updated.
- Support the operation and basic troubleshooting of BMS GRMS lighting controls access/control interfaces and other low-voltage building systems within the technicians competence.
- Perform basic general maintenance duties outside the electrical specialty including plumbing HVAC/FCU checks pumps sanitary fixtures carpentry painting silicone/grouting and other minor building repairs.
- Support other engineering disciplines and team members when required while maintaining electrical responsibilities as the primary specialty.
- Attend emergency breakdowns alarms and operational incidents during the shift; make the area safe take immediate corrective action within competence and escalate specialist requirements without delay.
- Support fire and life-safety systems checks emergency procedures and drills as assigned without undertaking specialist life-safety works unless appropriately trained/authorized.
- Maintain good housekeeping safe work practices tools and work areas especially when working in guest-facing locations.
- Ensure adequate availability and proper use of tools spare parts and materials; report shortages or defective tools/equipment.
- Communicate professionally with guests and hotel colleagues and protect guest privacy when working in occupied rooms.
- Work closely with Security Housekeeping Front Office and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize guest impact.
- Report recurring defects abnormal equipment conditions major failures and works requiring specialist contractor/vendor intervention.
- Attend departmental meetings technical training safety training and other sessions required by the Engineering Department.
- Carry out any other reasonable engineering or maintenance duties assigned by the Duty Engineer / Engineering Supervisor.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 2-year Diploma / Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering Electrical Technology or a closely related electrical trade qualification; OR a recognized electrician trade certification of equivalent level.
- Candidates with experience in luxury hotels commercial buildings hospitals or other complex facilities will be preferred.
- Experience working in a shift-based engineering operation and handling guest-related maintenance requests is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with LV electrical systems electrical controls preventive maintenance and fault finding is essential.
- Good spoken and written English is mandatory for this position.
- Clear communication skills with guests colleagues supervisors and other hotel departments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with a practical proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Team player who can also work independently with minimum supervision.
- Service-oriented professional reliable and respectful in guest-facing areas.
