SENIOR TELECOM ENGINEER
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Telecom Engineer to lead the design engineering and execution support of telecommunications systems for large-scale industrial infrastructure energy and utility projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing telecom engineering activities coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces ensuring compliance with applicable standards and delivering high-quality engineering solutions throughout FEED and Detailed Design phases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead telecommunications engineering and design activities for industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Manage the preparation and review of telecom engineering deliverables including Telecom System Architecture Diagrams Telecom Equipment Specifications and Datasheets Fiber Optic Network Design and Routing Structured Cabling System Design Telecommunications Layout Drawings Communication Network Topology Diagrams Radio Communication System Design Public Address and General Alarm (PAGA) System Design CCTV and Video Surveillance System Design
- Ensure compliance with applicable international codes standards and project specifications.
- Coordinate with Process Mechanical Electrical Civil Structural Instrumentation IT and HSE disciplines to ensure integrated system design.
- Review and approve engineering contractor and vendor documents including drawings datasheets technical submissions and design calculations.
- Lead technical discussions with clients consultants licensors vendors and third-party stakeholders.
- Participate in design reviews HAZID HAZOP constructability reviews and value engineering workshops.
- Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations vendor document reviews and factory acceptance tests (FAT).
- Provide engineering support during installation testing integration pre-commissioning commissioning and start-up phases.
- Troubleshoot telecom system issues during project execution and operational phases.
- Mentor and supervise telecom engineers and designers.
- Ensure project schedules quality requirements and engineering deliverables are achieved within approved budgets.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications Engineering Electronics Engineering Electrical Engineering Communication Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
- Masters Degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of telecommunications engineering experience in industrial infrastructure energy oil & gas petrochemical transportation utility or power projects.
- Minimum 35 years in a Senior Telecom Engineer role.
- Strong experience in FEED and Detailed Design (DD) project execution.
- Solid knowledge of industrial telecommunications and communication systems.
- Familiarity with international standards and codes such as IEC IEEE ITU TIA/EIA NFPA and other relevant industry standards.
- Experience in the design and engineering of Fiber Optic Communication Systems Structured Cabling Systems LAN WAN and Industrial Network Infrastructure CCTV and Video Surveillance Systems Access Control and Security Systems Public Address and General Alarm (PAGA) Systems
- Knowledge of network architecture communication protocols and telecom system integration.
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for industrial communication networks.
- Familiarity with telecom system calculations link budget analysis and network performance assessments.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD Visio and other telecom engineering and network design tools.
- Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments (Preferred).
- Exposure to EPC contractor and PMC project execution environments (Preferred).
- Strong understanding of construction support system integration testing commissioning and site troubleshooting activities (Preferred).
- Excellent communication coordination leadership and stakeholder management skills.
