HSE Officer

1. Health and Safety Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations as well as international standards and best practices.
  
• Conduct regular inspections of the workplace or project site to identify potential hazards and risks.
  
• Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols to mitigate identified risks.
  
• Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health and safety matters.
  
• Investigate accidents incidents and near misses and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  

2. Environmental Compliance:

• Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  
• Develop and implement environmental management systems to minimize environmental impact.
  
• Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  
• Recommend and implement strategies to reduce waste conserve resources and promote sustainability.
  

3. Training and Education:

• Develop and deliver training programs on health safety and environmental topics.
  
• Ensure that all employees receive appropriate training on safety procedures and protocols.
  
• Provide guidance and support to supervisors and managers on their role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  

4. Risk Management:

• Identify potential risks and hazards in the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation plans.
  
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk control measures and make adjustments as necessary.
  

5. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of health safety and environmental incidents inspections and training activities.
  
• Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  
• Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  

6. Emergency Response:

• Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  
• Conduct drills and exercises to ensure that employees are prepared to respond to emergencies.
  
• Coordinate with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders as needed during emergencies.
  

7. Continuous Improvement:

• Stay informed about developments in health safety and environmental regulations and best practices.
  
• Continuously assess and improve the effectiveness of health safety and environmental management systems.
  
• Actively participate in safety committees and other relevant forums.
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety environmental science or a related field.
  
• Professional certification in health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH IOSH) is preferred.
  
• Proven experience in a similar role preferably in the construction oil and gas or manufacturing industries.
  
• Excellent knowledge of health safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
