The Mason is responsible for carrying out masonry and civil maintenance works within the hotel to ensure that all building structures finishes and surfaces are maintained in safe functional and aesthetically pleasing condition. The role supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities in coordination with the Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform masonry and civil maintenance works such as plastering tiling block work brickwork and minor concrete repairs.
- Repair cracks damaged walls floors ceilings and other structural finishes.
- Carry out tile replacement grouting and sealing works in guest rooms and public areas.
- Assist with waterproofing sealing and surface finishing works as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards and hotel procedures.
- Maintain tools equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Coordinate with other Engineering trades (carpenters painters plumbers) when required.
- Report major defects or repeated issues to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Support preventive maintenance programs and renovation projects.
- Follow energy conservation and sustainability practices.
Qualifications :
Qualifications & Skills
- Technical training or certification in masonry or civil works is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role preferably in a hotel or facilities environment.
- Strong knowledge of masonry techniques materials and tools.
- Ability to read basic drawings or work instructions.
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work.
- Basic communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift carry and handle heavy materials.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
