Head of Data

We represent a high-growth digital financial services platform operating across emerging markets. The business enables embedded financial products including credit payments and savings through data-driven technology that supports fintechs banks and enterprise partners at scale.

Data sits at the centre of this platforms value proposition. As the organisation enters its next phase of growth it is investing heavily in scalable data foundations advanced analytics and intelligent decisioning systems to support performance risk management and long-term defensibility.

This role is a senior leadership position responsible for owning and evolving the end-to-end data capability across the business.

Job Description:

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for how data is collected structured governed and activated across the organisation. You will lead the data function end-to-end from core data infrastructure through to analytics predictive models and production-grade intelligence embedded directly into products and operations.

Working closely with product risk finance and engineering teams you will translate complex business needs into scalable data solutions that drive measurable outcomes. This role combines data leadership technical depth and strong business acumen with accountability for delivery performance and long-term platform evolution.

Your daily adventures include:

• Define and own the organisations data and analytics strategy ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth plans.
  
• Lead and grow a high-performing data team including data engineering analytics and data science capabilities.
  
• Design and oversee scalable data architectures and pipelines that support real-time and batch processing across multiple data sources.
  
• Ensure data quality reliability security and availability across all platforms and workflows.
  
• Partner closely with product risk operations and finance teams to embed data and insights into decision-making and product design.
  
• Oversee analytics dashboards and reporting that support performance tracking risk management and operational efficiency.
  
• Drive the development and lifecycle management of predictive models used in credit pricing and customer decisioning.
  
• Establish strong data governance documentation and source-of-truth practices across the business.
  
• Monitor platform performance data costs and operational health ensuring scalability and efficiency as the business grows.
  
• Promote a data-led culture by enabling experimentation measurement and accountability across teams.
  

Requirements

What it takes to succeed:

• Degree in Computer Science Data Science Engineering Mathematics Statistics or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 8 years experience across data engineering analytics or data platforms with leadership responsibility for production systems.
  
• Proven experience leading and scaling data teams in fast-paced high-growth environments.
  
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures cloud platforms and analytics tooling.
  
• Experience building and operating data pipelines and models that support real-time or near-real-time decisioning.
  
• Solid business and commercial awareness with the ability to link data outputs to financial and operational outcomes.
  
• Excellent communication skills able to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  
• Comfortable operating in regulated or compliance-driven environments with high standards for data governance.
