Job Purpose: |
Employee preforms highly skilled maintenance installation repair and troubleshooting work involved with Electrical Systems. Work involves technical application of electrical principles. |
Key Responsibilities: |
- Repair and maintenance work in a wide range of electrical equipment.
- Installs services and repairs lighting fixtures electrical panels outlets and wirings.
- Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
- Installs repairs services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
- Constructs and maintains service equipment.
- Read electrical circuit diagrams.
- Requisitions materials and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommends purchases and suppliers.
- Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
- Sets poles strings overhead lines and does overhead line maintenance.
- May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.
- Maintains essential stock of spare parts.
- Responding promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
- Assist with all emergency services e.g. Fire Alarms Lighting Batteries and Standby Power requirements inclusive of generators and Fire Fighting System.
- QHSE
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and not to put other people fellow employees and members of the public at risk from what you do or dont do in the course of your work.
- Cooperate with any company efforts to improve health and safety at work.
- Comply with any reasonable instruction given to you in the interest of health and safety.
- Not to interfere with or misuse anything thats provided for your health safety or welfare
- Report any accidents injuries or illnesses you may suffer because of doing your work or any accidents injuries or illnesses you become aware off that involves a fellow employee or member of the public at your place of work.

Qualifications: |
- Appropriate electrical technical qualifications
- Proven experience as an electrician
- Solid understanding of electrical systems in commercial and industrial buildings
- Ability to handle electrical tools and equipment
- Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship

Other Requirements: |
- Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
|
Scope and Limits of Authority: |
SCOPE - Can work independently on a wide range of electrical tasks including installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems. They can also supervise apprentices.
LIMIT - May not be authorized to design electrical systems or take on largescale projects without the oversight of a master electrician
