Senior Accountant Job Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Dubai

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Finance Manager / CFO

We are seeking a highly skilled and detailoriented Senior Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting ensuring compliance with accounting principles and supporting the company s financial health. This role requires strong analytical skills experience with financial systems and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

Prepare and analyze financial statements including balance sheets profit & loss statements and cash flow reports.

Ensure compliance with local tax laws accounting standards (e.g. IFRS/GAAP) and company policies.

Assist with internal and external audits ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.

General Accounting & Reconciliation:

Oversee monthend and yearend closing processes.

Perform reconciliations of accounts including bank statements accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Maintain and update general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:

Prepare VAT corporate tax and other regulatory filings.

Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors when needed.

Stay updated with changes in tax regulations and financial policies.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

Review and process vendor payments ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.

Monitor outstanding receivables and coordinate collection efforts.

Process Improvement & Systems Management:

Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and internal controls.

Work with ERP/accounting software to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. A CPA ACCA or CMA certification is preferred.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and financial regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SAP QuickBooks or Oracle).

Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUP financial modeling).

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.
