Job Summary
A Commis 1 at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre is responsible for preparing and presenting high quality dishes to deliver an excellent Guest experience.
What will I be doing
As a Commis 1 in the Pastry section at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre you will be assisting in the daily operations including the preparation of mis-en-place and production. Specifically you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Knowledge of the individual menu items including basic ingredients methods of preparation and presentation style.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.
- Gain basic knowledge of all outlets in hotel.
- Responsible for mise en place.
- Taste and examine food prepared for freshness and required quality.
- Set up section as required by Chef De Partie and Executive Chef.
- Be responsible for minimizing food wastage.
- Attend and comprehend all information discussed at the briefing sessions.
Be pro-actively involved in the hotels operation keeping up-to-date with events within the hotel.

- Previous experience as a Commis Chef
- Positive attitude
- Very Good communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure

- A passion to learn and a drive to succeed in a culinary/hospitality career
- Proof of completion in a basic food hygiene course
- A passion for food and the culinary arts
- Experience multi-tasking and working in an environment with rigorous standards
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Educational background in Culinary Arts
- Previous work experience within the hotel industry
- NVQ Level 2
