DescriptionThe role of the Senior Regional HSE Specialist is to support their region with matters related to common HSE risks and collaborating with Group Business Area HSE and Quality HSE(Q) Leads Local and Regional HSE(Q) Managers and Country Chairs.
A Senior Regional HSE Specialist may request tasks to be performed by the Country HSE Coordinators (CHC) but responsibility for completion and quality of these tasks remains with the Senior Regional HSE Specialist. This means that while the delivery of the tasks may be delegated the Senior Regional HSE Specialist is to be held accountable for providing supervision and ensuring quality control.
This role ensures compliance with corporate HSE policies local regulations and international standards while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout all business operations and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Country Chair in demonstrating compliance with HSE Legislation including identifying legal requirements for all DNV operations within the country and collaborating with designated internal and external counterparts as required by local law.
- Developing local HSE operating procedures as necessary and supporting the implementation of these procedures.
- Conducting statutory and non-statutory HSE reporting.
- Conducting and reviewing as necessary country-specific risk assessments for common operations and collaborating with the Country Chairs and/or Business Areas to manage these risks.
- Provide technical guidance and training on HSE standards incident investigation and safe work practices.
- Identifying in Synergi Life the highest common risks and trends for all recorded common risk cases in the countries of responsibility and communicating concerns to relevant stakeholders.
- Performing periodic quality checks on the adequacy of handling of non-operational HSE cases in Synergi Life and taking appropriate action to close the case.
- Supporting Group and the Country Chairs with the country-level Management System Review (MSR) process.
- Coordinating and participating in internal and external ISO 45001 audits as required especially in offices with multiple Business Areas or when the audit is performed as a standalone audit rather than part of Business Area quality audits.
- Maintaining environmental management systems for offices in the countries of responsibility including the identification of environmental aspects.
- Identifying region-specific environmental aspects related to common office operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety culture and environmental performance.

Qualifications- Bachelors degree in occupational health Safety Environmental Science or related field.
- Minimum 5 or more years of relevant health safety and environmental management experience preferably in industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of international HSE standards (ISO 45001 ISO 14001 OHSAS etc.) and regional regulations.
- Experience in managing HSE across multiple countries in the Middle East and Africa.
- Ability to communicate at all levels with employees such as colleagues in the office and also contractors managers and senior leaders.
- Formal HSE qualifications are required to undertake this role.
- Detailed level of understanding regarding HSE legislation is required.
