Role Summary:
The incumbent for this role will play a vital supporting role in the kitchen assisting chefs in the preparation cooking and presentation of food at Geant store in Dubai Hills mall as this store will be a production site for all UAE stores. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about cooking and eager to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced professional environment. Also is responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene food safety and kitchen organization while learning and growing under the guidance of experienced chefs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation cooking and plating of dishes as directed by senior chefs.
- Follow standard recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean safe and organized kitchen environment at all times.
- Ensure proper storage labeling and rotation of all food items in compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.
- Support the kitchen team during preparation and service especially during busy periods.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Continuously develop skills and culinary knowledge through on-the-job learning and training.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Adhere to all company policies health & safety regulations and hygiene standards.
Required skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of fundamental cooking methods and ability to follow recipes and standard portion sizes.
- Safe and efficient use of kitchen tools and appliances with basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Understanding of food safety standards and hygiene protocols (HACCP).
- Proper storage labeling and rotation of ingredients (FIFO).
- Familiarity with basic ingredients herbs spices and flavor profiles.
- Ability to identify freshness and quality of produce meats and other ingredients.
- Basic understanding of stock rotation and assisting in inventory control (FIFO).
- Team player consistency performing and prioritizing tasks.
- Strong attention to detail time management skills and ability to work efficiently under supervision and able to multitask.
- Ability to interact with customers understand their orders and familiarity in selling techniques.
