The American University in the Emirates invites applications from Ph.D. holders for a full-time faculty position in Public Relations for the Academic Year .

Specialization Required

• Public Relations (Graduate & Undergraduate Levels)

Instruction Language

• English & Arabic (Bilingual required)

Teaching Load

• 12 credit hours per academic semester

Job Purpose

The faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction assessing student performance providing academic advising contributing to curriculum development participating in university committees engaging in scholarly research and supporting community and professional service in alignment with the Universitys mission and academic excellence standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instructional Delivery

• Deliver research- and practice-driven teaching using contemporary pedagogical approaches.
• Foster critical inquiry and skill development through engaging instructional methods and appropriate assessments.

2. Instructional Management

• Effectively manage instructional processes in accordance with university policies and academic standards.

3. Assessment and Evaluation

• Evaluate and grade student performance fairly and transparently.
• Develop clear assessment criteria aligned with course learning outcomes.
• Set clear expectations and avoid cognitive bias in assessment.

4. Curriculum Development and Review

• Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement to ensure:
• Currency and relevance of theories and practices.
• Appropriate intellectual rigor for program level.
• Progressive complexity in knowledge analysis and competency development.
• Effective application of theories and principles.

5. Research and Scholarship

• Actively engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals contributing to the Universitys research mission.
• Maintain an active research agenda within the field of specialization.

6. Professional Development

• Participate in continuous professional development including academic disciplinary technological and leadership training through internal and external workshops and seminars.

7. Academic Advising

• Provide academic and career advising to students supporting curriculum planning and achievement of program learning outcomes.

8. Service

• Participate in university college and departmental service activities including accreditation recruitment research administration and community engagement.

Qualifications & Education

• Ph.D. in Public Relations or a closely related field from:
• An accredited university in the United States or
• A recognized university accredited by an American accreditation body.
• Ph.D. must be completed at the time of recruitment.
• Minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate studies in the relevant field.
• Minimum of two (2) research publications in Scopus-indexed journals.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic (mandatory).

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at an internationally accredited university.
• At least three (3) publications within the last five years.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Curriculum development and review expertise.
• Strong record of scholarly and professional achievement.
• Ongoing research agenda and interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to integrate web-based and digital technologies in teaching.
• Commitment to service at the university college and community levels.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.
