Roles and responsibilities

Overview of the role:

• The primary focus of the role will be to carry out dealership service on customer vehicles as per company standards and ensure optimum quality with increased productivity and technical efficiency, thereby individually contributing to generate workshop revenue.
  

What you will do:

• Perform periodic maintenance service on the customer’s vehicle
• Address minor repair jobs on customer’s vehicle without compensating the quality of work
• Accurately complete all job cards provided
• Provide cost estimates to customers that requires or request for additional service jobs
• Conduct final inspection as per the SOP (standard operating procedure)
• Deliver the desired efficiency and productivity as per targets given
• Ensure prompt punch in and punch out to get the accurate booking hours
• Complete the training course/internal assessment and other on the job training as per the schedule provided by the Training Manager
• Enroll and get certification as per the principal’s guidelines
• Prepare for annual skills contests

About the Team:

• Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor and will work closely with the workshop team.
  

What equips you for the role:

• ITI/ Diploma in Automobile Engineering
• 1 to 2 years overall experience as a Technician with an automotive dealership
• Technical skills
• Basic computer skills
• Proficient English

Desired candidate profile

. Technical Knowledge:

• Mechanical Systems: In-depth understanding of mechanical components, systems, and how they interact. This includes engines, motors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical equipment.
• Blueprints and Schematics: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand how systems are designed and how they should operate.
• Mechanical Repair: Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment to ensure it runs at peak performance.
• Preventive Maintenance: Knowledge of and ability to perform scheduled maintenance activities, such as lubrication, component replacement, and system adjustments, to prevent equipment failure.

2. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:

• Diagnostic Skills: Identifying problems in mechanical systems, from simple faults to more complex issues, using tools like diagnostic equipment and sensors.
• Root Cause Analysis: Finding the underlying causes of mechanical failures, rather than just addressing symptoms, to prevent future issues.
• Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot various types of machinery and equipment efficiently and effectively, minimizing downtime.

3. Precision and Attention to Detail:

• Accuracy: Ensuring that repairs and maintenance work are performed accurately, following specifications, and ensuring proper functioning.
• Inspection: Regularly inspecting machines and systems to detect issues early and prevent significant mechanical failures.
• Measurements: Using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to measure components accurately during repairs and maintenance.

4. Technical Proficiency:

• Hand and Power Tools: Proficient in using various hand tools, power tools, and machinery, such as wrenches, drills, grinders, and welding equipment.
• Diagnostic Tools: Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, pressure gauges, and thermometers to measure parameters and diagnose faults.
• Software Knowledge: Some mechanical technicians work with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities, inventory management, and scheduling.
