Roles and responsibilities
1. Project Management and Coordination
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Assisting in the planning and scheduling of capital projects, ensuring timelines are met and resources are properly allocated.
- Tracking and Reporting: Monitoring project progress and providing regular updates on project status, including financials, milestones, and risks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, project managers, and department heads to ensure smooth project execution.
2. Financial and Budgeting Expertise
- Budget Management: Developing, tracking, and managing budgets for capital projects, ensuring that costs remain within the allocated budget.
- Cost Control and Forecasting: Analyzing financial data to predict project costs and make adjustments as necessary. Identifying cost-saving opportunities or potential overruns early in the project.
- Financial Reporting: Providing financial reporting on capital projects, including variance analysis and investment performance evaluations.
3. Risk Management and Compliance
- Risk Assessment: Identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks associated with capital projects (e.g., cost overruns, schedule delays, scope creep).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all capital projects comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Contract and Legal Management: Assisting with contract negotiation and ensuring that all contracts with vendors, contractors, and service providers meet legal and company requirements.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting
- Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering and analyzing data related to project performance, including financial metrics, timelines, and resource utilization.
- Performance Metrics: Developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of capital projects.
- Reporting and Presentations: Creating detailed reports and presentations for senior management, stakeholders, and investors, highlighting project performance and outcomes.
5. Procurement and Vendor Management
- Vendor Selection: Assisting in the selection and management of vendors and contractors for capital projects, ensuring they meet the required qualifications and performance standards.
- Contract Negotiation: Collaborating with procurement teams to negotiate terms, pricing, and timelines with vendors and service providers.
- Supply Chain Management: Managing the logistics of acquiring materials, equipment, and services necessary for project completion.
6. Technical and Engineering Knowledge
- Understanding Engineering and Construction Processes: Familiarity with the technical and engineering aspects of capital projects, such as construction, procurement, design, and operational requirements.
- Collaboration with Engineers and Contractors: Working closely with engineering and construction teams to understand technical specifications and ensure that the project adheres to design and operational standards.
7. Problem Solving and Decision-Making
- Identifying Issues: Recognizing and addressing any problems that arise during the project, such as delays, budget discrepancies, or resource shortages.
