Roles and responsibilities
1. Electrical Knowledge and Expertise
- Electrical Systems Understanding: In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage and high voltage systems, power distribution, and control systems.
- Circuit Design: Ability to read, interpret, and design electrical circuits for installations, repairs, or upgrades.
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical circuits, wiring, and equipment such as motors, transformers, and generators.
- Power Distribution Systems: Understanding of electrical power distribution, including transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers, and the ability to troubleshoot related issues.
2. Maintenance Skills
- Preventive Maintenance: Experience in conducting regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Corrective Maintenance: Ability to diagnose problems and perform corrective maintenance on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to restore function.
- Equipment Calibration: Proficiency in calibrating electrical instruments and tools to ensure accurate operation and measurement.
- Wiring and Installations: Ability to install and repair electrical wiring, panels, outlets, and other components in accordance with electrical codes and standards.
3. Technical and Mechanical Skills
- Hands-On Technical Work: Proficiency in performing hands-on electrical work, including the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Electrical Codes and Standards: Knowledge of local and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC - National Electrical Code, IEC - International Electrotechnical Commission) and ensuring compliance in all maintenance and installation work.
- Motor Control: Knowledge of electric motor control systems, including VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), star-delta starters, and PLC-controlled motor circuits.
- Electrical Components: Understanding of various electrical components like resistors, capacitors, switches, transformers, relays, fuses, and circuit breakers.
4. Safety and Compliance
- Safety Regulations: Familiarity with electrical safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures, grounding, and electrical hazard analysis to minimize risks.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Knowledge of appropriate PPE, such as insulated gloves, safety glasses, and arc flash suits, and ensuring they are worn during electrical maintenance tasks.
- Risk Assessment: Ability to assess and mitigate electrical hazards, such as electric shocks, fire, or equipment failure, and apply safe working practices.
- Environmental Compliance: Understanding of environmental regulations related to electrical waste disposal, energy consumption, and minimizing the environmental impact of electrical maintenance activities.
5. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- Root Cause Analysis: Strong ability to perform root cause analysis to identify the source of electrical problems, whether in machinery, systems, or equipment.
- Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools like multimeters, insulation resistance testers, earth ground testers, and oscilloscopes to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues.
- Circuit Testing: Skill in testing electrical circuits to ensure that they are functioning within specified parameters, detecting any deviations that may indicate a fault.
6. Communication and Documentation
- Technical Reporting: Ability to document maintenance activities, repairs, test results, and equipment performance, and report findings to senior engineers or managers.
- Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills to collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff to resolve issues and improve electrical system reliability.
- Instruction and Training: Ability to assist in training junior technicians or new team members on safe electrical maintenance practices, system operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Clear Documentation: Skill in maintaining accurate logs, records of work orders, and inventory of electrical components and equipment.
7. Computer and Software Skills
- Computer-Aided Design (CAD): Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software to assist in designing electrical systems and schematics.
- Maintenance Management Software: Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like SAP PM, Maximo, or Infor EAM to manage maintenance schedules, work orders, and parts inventory.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for maintaining records, generating reports, and communicating with team members.
8. Project Management Support
- Project Assistance: Assisting senior engineers in planning and executing electrical projects, including coordinating resources, timelines, and personnel.
- Material Management: Assisting with the procurement and management of electrical components and materials required for installations or repairs.
- Time Management: Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks effectively to meet project deadlines and operational requirements.
- Cost Control: Assisting with cost estimation for maintenance projects and ensuring that expenditures stay within budget limits.

Candidate must have at least bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from reputed university with at least 06 years of experience in power plant/power system or similar industrial application. Should have deep knowledge of power plant related equipment like Generator & Excitation system (SFC/ SEE), Transformer, Protection system, Switch gear, Motors, Battery, Battery Charger, Inverter etc. Experience in carrying out major shutdown support, project work and maintenance (PM&CM) activities for above equipment’s. Ability to read & understand single line diagrams, schematic drawings, P&I drawings, protection relay logics & programming etc is a must. Should be well versed in SAP, ISO, Microsoft office. Good Communication & coordination skills. Fluent in oral and written English language, also, Arabic language skill will be an advantage. Sound knowledge of occupational safety/ safety practices & procedures.
