Roles and responsibilities
A Barman will be responsible for engaging our guests during their visit, receiving/serving orders and ensuring brand service standards are met to the highest quality. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Receive orders and serve customer requests completely in a timely manner
- Create and serve a range of beverages including classic cocktails, mixers, beer, wine and soft drinks etc.
- Take food orders and assist the floor team with deliveries as required
- Understand menu content, any menu changes, and promotional activities
- Keep your service area clean, tidy, and well-prepared
- Efficiently manage the proper settlement of all customer accounts
- Answer guest queries in a polite and helpful manner

- Previous experience within a cocktail bar environment
- The ability to create classic cocktails
- Flexibility in hours as you will be working rostered shifts, especially on weekends

- Passion for delivering exceptional levels of guest service
- Suggestive selling: Recommend high-margin items, such as cocktails, premium spirits, or food pairings, to enhance the guest experience and boost sales.
- Promotions: Inform guests about drink specials, happy hour deals, or exclusive menu items.
- Customer engagement: Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty.
Desired candidate profile
A Barman (or Bartender) is responsible for mixing and serving drinks, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a well-stocked and organized bar. Here are the key skills required for the role:
Customer Service Skills
- Warm and approachable demeanor: Greet guests in a friendly, professional manner, ensuring they feel welcomed and comfortable.
- Active listening: Understand guest preferences and provide personalized drink recommendations based on their tastes.
- Problem-solving: Handle guest complaints or issues with a calm and professional approach, resolving any problems promptly.
- Empathy and patience: Remain attentive to guests' needs, ensuring they enjoy their time at the bar.
Communication Skills
- Clear verbal communication: Communicate orders, drink specials, and information clearly to guests, kitchen staff, and servers.
- Non-verbal communication: Use body language to convey attentiveness and professionalism, maintaining eye contact and offering a welcoming stance.
- Multilingual skills (optional): The ability to speak different languages can be an asset in international or high-tourism areas.
- Team coordination: Work seamlessly with other bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff to deliver smooth service.
Mixology and Drink Preparation Skills
- In-depth drink knowledge: Master classic cocktails, trendy drinks, and the proper techniques for mixing, shaking, and serving beverages.
- Ingredient knowledge: Familiarity with spirits, liqueurs, syrups, garnishes, and mixers to create high-quality drinks.
- Speed and efficiency: Prepare drinks quickly and accurately during busy periods without sacrificing quality.
- Creativity: Craft signature cocktails or offer personalized drink suggestions to guests.
Organizational and Time Management Skills
- Efficiency: Manage multiple drink orders simultaneously, ensuring quick and accurate service even during peak times.
- Bar maintenance: Keep the bar area organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies, such as glasses, ice, and ingredients.
- Prioritization: Handle a large number of orders efficiently, ensuring that drinks are prepared and served on time.
