Roles and responsibilities

• Customer Service: To provide a high level of customer service at all times both internal and external, by being aware of the product categories and being able to assist and advise customers in a professional manner
• POS Operation: As and when required, to operate the point of sales system. To be aware of the procedures required for cash operation and to maintain a high level of accuracy in all transactions
• Specialist Product Knowledge: To actively learn the product uses and pluses of the range of goods, to be able to advise customers on the right product to meet their requirements and ensure increased revenue through add on sales. To utilise your skills and experience as a Horticulturist to maintain the Garden section (indoor and outdoor) and specifically advised and educate customers and other team members on the associated products.
• Receiving Deliveries: To assist with the receiving and display of goods in accordance with the approved procedures when required to ensure products are available for customer purchase.
• Ticketing & Pricing: To comply with instore procedure with regard to pricing and ticketing to ensure that customers are aware of product prices and to protect the company against any loss related to incorrect pricing.
• Merchandising Principles: After adequate training to apply the Merchandising Principles at all times ensuring a corporate imagine is achieved and that we have the best possible looking stores in its product category. To be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy store by initiating a cleaning programme for your assigned dept.
  

Required Skills To Be Successful

At least 2 years in retail environment

1. Design and Development of Agricultural Equipment

• Machinery Design: Design and improve machinery used in planting, harvesting, irrigation, and other agricultural activities. This includes tractors, harvesters, planters, and automated systems for soil cultivation or crop protection.
• Automation and Robotics: Develop automated systems and robotics to streamline farming operations, such as robotic harvesters or drones for crop monitoring.
• Mechanization: Work on the mechanization of tasks like plowing, planting, irrigation, and harvesting, improving efficiency and reducing labor costs.

2. Irrigation and Water Management

• Irrigation System Design: Plan and design efficient irrigation systems that minimize water waste while ensuring crops receive the right amount of moisture. This may include drip irrigation systems, sprinkler systems, and rainwater harvesting solutions.
• Water Conservation: Develop systems and technologies that reduce water consumption, increase water use efficiency, and promote sustainable farming practices.
• Soil and Water Quality Management: Monitor and manage soil health and water quality, ensuring that farming practices do not lead to erosion, salinity, or contamination.

3. Sustainable Agricultural Practices

• Environmental Impact: Develop and implement systems that reduce the environmental impact of farming, such as reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, and promoting organic farming practices.
• Renewable Energy Solutions: Design and implement renewable energy systems (e.g., solar, wind, biogas) that can be used in agricultural operations to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
• Waste Management: Work on waste recycling systems or biogas plants to process agricultural waste into useful byproducts like compost or renewable energy.

4. Farm and Crop Management

• Farm Planning and Design: Design layouts for farms or plantations, including the placement of equipment, irrigation systems, and structures (like greenhouses or storage facilities) for maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Precision Agriculture: Use data and technology (such as GPS, GIS, and sensors) to create precision farming systems that optimize crop yield while minimizing resource use.
• Crop Monitoring: Implement monitoring systems to track crop health, growth, and potential pest or disease outbreaks.
