Site Engineer Electrical

Roles and responsibilities

 Prepare a review for IFC drawing

 Prepare RFI’s for any technical clarifications

 Coordinate with draftsmen for shop drawing preparation, Review shop drawing prior to submit to consultant

 Make quantity take off for all material required.

 Review material submittal prior to submit to consultant

 Coordinate with main contractor/ consultant.

 Participate where required in all aspects of the project management for the electrical works.

 Manage and supervises the on all site electrical works.

 Undertake the detailed short term planning and co-ordination at site in accordance with the master program.

 Ensure that all information is available to undertake the works.

 Ensure materials are available at site to undertake the works.

 Ensure all materials are correctly stored at site and installed without damage.

 Arrange the required tools and equipment to be available at site.

 Control of the quality and technical correctness of the installation in accordance with the project quality assurance plan.

 Ensure that the works are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the project safety plan

 Allocate the workforce to areas of the site based on the program, nature of the works and the skills required.

 Co-ordinate with the main contractor and other sub-contractors at site.

 Set targets and monitors the productivity of the workforce at site.

 Arrange skills development and training for the foremen and site workforce.

 Monitors the production and quality of sub contractors works at site.

 Implements the inspection and test plan and obtains the supervising engineers approval at each stage of the works.

 Maintains records of the changes to the working drawings to enable the record drawings to be produced.

 Manages the system testing and commissioning

 Adhere to the company QHSE policy at all times.

 Report All QHSE incidents immediately and take necessary precautions.

Required Skills To Be Successful

Job-Specific Skills:

Managing the execution of building services as a contractor like power, lighting, MV, LV, cables routing & termination, Earthing, Electrical Panels, control systems, low current implementation, testing & commissioning, etc. capable of supervising detailed engineering works, coordinated shop drawings, technical submittals, liaison with consultants, coordinate with various disciplines and site supervision.

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical

Minimum Experience:

4 -9 years in MEP - Soft Skills :MS Office, AutoCAD

1. Site Supervision and Management

• Oversee Electrical Work: Supervise the installation of electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and other electrical components on-site to ensure work is carried out according to design specifications, project timelines, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with Contractors: Collaborate with electrical contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical work is completed on time and within budget.
• Work Schedule Management: Ensure that electrical installations are completed according to the project schedule, identifying any delays or issues that could affect timelines.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect and ensure the quality of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Site Safety: Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations on-site, especially concerning electrical hazards, and maintain a safe working environment for the electrical team.

2. Design and Technical Support

• Review Electrical Drawings: Review and interpret electrical design drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and wiring.
• Technical Advice: Provide technical guidance to contractors and workers on electrical systems, ensuring that the installation process aligns with engineering specifications.
• Modification and Updates: Address any discrepancies between the design and actual site conditions, making necessary adjustments to the design or installation methods.
• Integration: Ensure electrical systems are properly integrated with other construction elements, such as HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.

3. Installation and Testing

• System Installation: Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including cables, distribution boards, transformers, switchgear, and lighting fixtures.
• Testing and Commissioning: Ensure that electrical systems are tested before being put into operation. This includes conducting tests such as insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and functional testing of equipment.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any electrical faults or issues that arise during the installation or testing phase, ensuring that systems are functioning properly.

4. Compliance and Documentation

• Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all electrical installations comply with national and local electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) or IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of electrical installations, test results, and any modifications made to the design or system during the construction phase.
• Permitting and Approvals: Assist in obtaining the necessary permits and approvals from local authorities for electrical installations.
