Roles and responsibilities
1. Creative Leadership and Design Direction
- Design Conceptualization: Lead the creation of design concepts for various media, including print, digital, and social media. Develop original ideas and solutions that align with the brand’s identity and marketing objectives.
- Creative Direction: Oversee the visual direction of design projects, ensuring that all work adheres to brand guidelines and communicates the desired message effectively.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure the consistency of design elements across all marketing and branding materials to maintain a cohesive visual identity.
- Innovation: Push creative boundaries by exploring new design trends, techniques, and technologies, keeping the brand’s visual presence fresh and relevant.
2. Project Management and Coordination
- Project Planning: Lead the design process from initial concept to final execution, managing timelines, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with other departments such as marketing, content, web development, and copywriting to create integrated campaigns and cohesive visual content.
- Client/Stakeholder Communication: Present design concepts and deliverables to clients, stakeholders, or internal teams, gathering feedback, and making revisions as necessary.
- Managing Multiple Projects: Handle multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high-quality standards.
3. Design Execution and Production
- High-Quality Design Creation: Produce high-quality visual designs for a variety of mediums, including advertisements, websites, social media posts, brochures, posters, packaging, and presentations.
- Design Software Proficiency: Create and edit designs using industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), Sketch, Figma, and CorelDRAW.
- Print and Digital Production: Oversee the preparation of files for both print and digital formats, ensuring proper resolution, color profiles, and file specifications for production.
4. Team Leadership and Mentorship
- Lead and Mentor Junior Designers: Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to junior or mid-level designers, helping them develop their skills and grow in their roles.
- Review and Approve Designs: Review work created by junior designers and provide constructive feedback to ensure that designs meet the required standards and project objectives.
- Foster Creativity and Collaboration: Create a creative environment that encourages collaboration and innovative thinking among the design team.
Desired candidate profile
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert graphic design support across our urbanism and planning projects.
- Collaborate closely with a talented team of designers to deliver exceptional work.
- Engage in the full project lifecycle, from initial design briefs to production.
- Generate creative concepts and develop compelling graphics and layouts.
- Strategically ensure cohesive messaging and visual identity in our designs.
- Organize and maintain graphic/document templates and resource libraries.
- Liaise with printers and assist in preparing bid/tender submissions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a senior graphics capacity
- Excited to help change the course of communities, cities, and nations through design, planning, and infrastructure
- Demonstrable graphic design skills and expertise, with a strong portfolio (experience working for a similar architectural or design practice highly desirable)
- Exposure to Architecture, Urban Design or digital software skills a plus
- Must be experienced in Adobe Creative Suite, with ability to power-use and create templates, and automation, and drive innovation especially in InDesign;
- Experience in preparing proposals, talk decks, signage & diagrams
- Strong listening and communication skills with people from different disciplines
