Job Description Position- QC Manager- Petrochemical
Industry: Petrochemical Manufacturing/Lubricants Manufacturing
Position Overview: The QC Manager in the petrochemical industry oversees the quality control processes to ensure products meet industry standards and specifications. This role involves leading a team, developing quality protocols, and coordinating with other departments to enhance product quality.

Product Knowledge Base Oil, White Oil, Paraffin Wax, Ethanol, Ethyl acetate, Butanol, Butyl Acetate, Propanol, Propyl Acetate, Acetone, Methanol, MEG, DEG, TEG Propylene Glycol, Styrene, Xylenes, Glycols, Aromatic Naphtha, Benzene and other Chemicals like MEK, MIBK, N-Paraffin etc & test as Per ASTM/IP/BP/IS/ISO Methods.
Roles & Responsibilities: -
- Responsible for complete laboratory department involving evaluation and analysis of all types of Samples and consumer product using all Sophisticated Laboratory Instruments.
- Ensure and monitor all activities related to QMS, OSHAS and EMS are in line with the industry standards.
- Accomplish responsibility for administering quality control activities and spearheading quality assurance functions with overall responsibility for quality management as per compliance.
- Ensure the quality of the raw material received are is in-line with the production requirements & report the deviation if any.
- Accountable for commissioning the lab equipments and measuring the Risk assessments with respect to Lab.
- Guide the Shift Chemist on the test as per the production for chemicals & Petrochemical Products, as per ASTM & other standards.
- Preparing SOPs for Quality contract operations and prapring duty schedule for the department.
- Keeping time sheet for the department and approving the same.
- Maintain the documentation, keeping all testing procedures, equipment/appliances in perfect operating condition as per ISO Standards.
- Responsible for establishing the QC/QA systems and their implementation
- Responsible in planning, implementing, monitoring and identifying areas for improving productivity and implementation of QMS as per ISO.
- Ensure the chemical waste from laboratory and the plant as well is disposed as per the local laws & regulations and, with respect to Safety.
- Identifying training gaps and train the Lab Technicians and Lab Assistants for performing routine works of the lab
- Develop, implement and monitor Quality Systems, maintain and update Quality Manual/Documents plan and conduct Internal Audits and monitor corrective action through Periodic Reviews to meet overall Quality Standards as per Quality objectives.
- To coordinate for the customer complaint response after analysis & ensure necessary corrective or preventive actions are taken.
- Provide training for team regarding quality tools and quality system related issues.
- Analyze the competencies and limitations of in-house Quality team members and identifying the areas where third party inspection is necessary.
- To facilitate various external, internal audits & assist to ensure completion of corrective actions on NCs raised during the audits.
- Prepare reports on audit findings, pending NCRs, the status of major NCRs, and the plan for Corrective Action.
- Familiar with MSDS/TDS & Calibration
- Review the existing system continuously, suggest for amendments for continuous improvement
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize quality processes.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
Customer Interaction:
- Address quality-related concerns from customers and stakeholders.
- Facilitate audits and inspections from regulatory bodies and clients.
Data Management:
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and potential issues.
- Prepare and present quality reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control within the petrochemical industry.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven leadership and team management abilities.
Skills:
Proficiency in laboratory testing methods and equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
Office and laboratory settings, with occasional site visits to production facilities.
