Roles and responsibilities
Sr. Database Administrator, Backups & Cerner Backend Administrator
Sr. DBA Responsibilities:
- Install, Configure and Manager Manage Microsoft SQL 2012, 2016 & 2019, Oracle 11g & 19c, ERP Cloud Databases, MySQL, PostgreSQL databases.
- Create and manage database instances, schema objects, and user accounts on All Databases
- Implement and maintain database security and access controls
- Manage Database upgrades, DB enhancements, performance optimizations, health checks.
- Manage DB migrations, DB Upgrades to latest version and validation post upgrades.
- Manage the administration and support of Cerner, Oracle Fusion ERP, My Care, and other third-party database applications.
- Configure and manage Active Data Guard process between the production and Standby database and ensure the data is processed and in sync.
- Monitor and manage the capacity of DB systems and provide storage and compute forecasts for future capacity needs.
Cerner Backend Administrator Responsibilities:
- Manage Cerner PROD & CERT Domains – Client Installations & Maintenances and coordinate the complete domain maintenance with Cerner OMS Team.
- Manage Cerner Non-Prod Domains (BUILD & TRAIN). Complete Domain Infrastructure along with Domain Maintenance, Domain Copy, Package Installs, Backend Server Maintenance.
- Configure and manage Cerner Systems Hardware – Printers, Scanners and other End User peripherals and integration of these systems to Cerner Backend.
- Manage Backend Systems of Cerner applications and ERP Domain – Application Nodes, Database Servers, 724 Mid Tier Server and all other standalone applications of Cerner.
- Manage Backend Infrastructure for all the Cerner Production environment.
- Configure and manage Backend Integration configuration of Cerner Systems with third party applications using FSI/OpenView and managing Open Link Servers.
- Manage CAMM Backend Systems – Managing the file systems, databases and application configuration and DICOM Image viewer troubleshooting.
- Manage complete 724 downtime infrastructure along with the Mid-Tier Server ETL process and the data extract to all the downtime PCs identified in the respective departments.
Desired candidate profile
- Administer, configure, and optimize EMC Networker and Data Domain backup systems, ensuring consistent and reliable data backup and recovery.
- Implement and manage backup policies, retention schedules, and disaster recovery strategies in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the backup environment for performance, capacity, and failure alerts. Identify and troubleshoot backup failures, hardware issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Create, schedule, and monitor backups for physical and virtual environments, ensuring all critical data is backed up according to the defined schedules.
- Apply necessary patches, firmware upgrades, and system updates to the EMC Networker and Data Domain systems, keeping the environment up-to-date and secure.
- Monitor and manage the capacity of backup storage systems, including Data Domain appliances, and provide forecasts for future capacity needs.
- Work closely with other IT teams, including database, network, and server administrators, to ensure smooth integration and operation of backup systems within the overall IT infrastructure.
- Ensure backups meet compliance standards and are ready for regular audits. Prepare audit reports and respond to audit inquiries as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology/Engineer/Computer Science or equivalent is required
- 8+ years of experience in database administration, management, and optimization across various platforms.
- 8+ years of experience as Cerner Backend Administrator
- Extensive experience managing databases such as Microsoft SQL Server (2012, 2016, 2019), Oracle (11g, 19c), and cloud-based databases.
- 5+ years of experience as Backup Administrator
- Familiarity with Data Domain systems and related technologies
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in backup and recovery software EMC Networker, EMC Data Domain, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of database backup methods for systems like Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise databases.
