Senior Piping Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

• The candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned piping engineering work scopes
• To plan, budget, organize, and control Piping engineering deliverables for the project
• Prepare Piping deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
• Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
• Provide direction and guidance on all piping engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
• Liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
• Promote safe behavior at all times
• Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
• Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
• Assist in the coordination of all activities related to piping engineering design
• Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
• Must have working project experience in Layouts in the piping discipline preferably on Brownfield Iraq Projects
  

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 8 - 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
• Brownfield experience is a must.
• Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
• Previous experience of working in on Iraq Projects

Desired candidate profile

• Piping Design Expertise: In-depth knowledge of piping design principles, materials, and construction methods, including ASME and API standards.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in 3D modeling and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, or Plant 3D) for creating detailed piping layouts and isometrics.

• Stress Analysis: Ability to perform piping stress analysis using software (e.g., CAESAR II) to ensure structural integrity under various operating conditions.

• Project Management: Skills in planning, scheduling, and overseeing piping projects to ensure timely completion within budget constraints.

• Collaboration Skills: Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers, to ensure integration and compliance.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry codes and standards, safety regulations, and best practices for piping systems.

• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify design challenges and develop effective solutions during the design and construction phases.

• Documentation Skills: Proficiency in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and project deliverables.

• Quality Assurance: Understanding of quality control processes to ensure that designs meet required specifications and industry standards.

• Mentorship: Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering their professional development and enhancing team capabilities.
