PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of an Architectural BIM Coordinator is to ensure the efficient and accurate implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes within architectural projects. Their role bridges the gap between design teams engineers contractors and other stakeholders by managing and coordinating digital models to ensure that all aspects of the project are integrated aligned and meet the required standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop manage and maintain accurate BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure the integration of architectural BIM models with structural MEP and other disciplines.
- Perform clash detection and resolution using software like Navisworks or Revit to avoid conflicts between design elements.
- Coordinate with external consultants contractors and other project stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Ensure that all BIM models adhere to company and industry standards including ISO 19650 or projectspecific protocols.
- Conduct regular audits of BIM models to verify that they meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Implement and maintain BIM Plans (BEP) and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with the production of architectural BIM models and generate 2D drawings and documentation from the models.
- Maintain accurate asbuilt models during construction and postconstruction phases.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure accurate documentation of design intent.
- Serve as the key point of contact for BIM coordination between architects engineers contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Lead coordination meetings facilitating communication between different disciplines to resolve issues and maintain project alignment.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to architects and engineers based on clash reports and model reviews.
- Provide technical support and training to architectural and design teams on BIM software (such as Revit Navisworks or AutoCAD).
- Mentor and guide team members in understanding and adopting BIM processes.
- Ensure that all team members are familiar with BIM tools and best practices.
- Develop refine and implement BIM workflows standards and protocols to optimize project delivery.
- Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to ensure that BIM processes are incorporated into project planning and .
- Stay uptodate with advancements in BIM technology and software incorporating new tools and techniques into workflows.
- Perform clash detection using specialized software like Navisworks or BIM 360 to identify potential conflicts between architectural elements and other disciplines.
- Coordinate with the relevant teams to resolve clashes before construction reducing rework and delays onsite.
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their BIM requirements and ensure that models and documentation meet or exceed expectations.
- Assist in the development of presentations and visualizations using BIM models to convey design concepts to clients.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture Engineering or a related field:
- Expertlevel proficiency in Autodesk Revit is essential for creating and managing architectural models.
- Navisworks: Experience using Navisworks for clash detection and model coordination.
- AutoCAD: Proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting using AutoCAD is often required.
- BIM 360 or Other Collaboration Platforms: Knowledge of cloudbased BIM platforms like Autodesk BIM 360 or equivalent tools for collaboration and data management.
- Knowledge of Industry BIM Standards: Familiarity with international BIM standards such as ISO 19650 AIA BIM standards or projectspecific guidelines (BIM Plans).
- BIM Plans (BEPs): Ability to create implement and manage BIM Plans that define the standards workflows and processes for project delivery.
