- Sets up and operates the automation and control system of the rolling mill in accordance with the Production Schedule
- Makes sure all machines and equipment (e.g., roll stands, hydraulic system, lubrication system, cooling water system, pneumatic system and all sensory equipment) are functional before introducing a billet through the mill
- Gives out the signal for the 3CS operator to discharge the billets, and informs personnel at the finishing end.Coordinates with the Furnace Operator and the Cold Shear Operator in order to achieve the optimum production rate.
- Monitors and controls the different process parameters during production, including the monitoring of Tempcore control system (pressure, volume flow, line speed)
- Accomplishes the shift’s Daily Production Report as he tracks the material flow discharged from the reheating furnace and run through the mill
- Accomplishes the shift’s Delay/Cobble Report by recording all cobble instances and the causes and duration of the delays in the mill.
- Assists the Production Shift Foreman in monitoring the actual Production Schedule by tracking the hourly tonnage produced per length and grade for the section being rolled.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned.
