Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role Purpose

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) is responsible for supervising the development of functional and detailed mechanical designs for building services projects. The role ensures all deliverables comply with Stantecs Quality Standards client expectations and Statutory Authority requirements. The position includes leading design delivery managing engineering staff coordinating across disciplines and supporting project success from concept to construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of Mechanical (HVAC) design delivery on assigned projects.
• Lead manage and take full ownership of the Mechanical Design team to ensure accurate highquality and timely project deliverables.
• Demonstrate solid understanding of all building services disciplines and how they interface with mechanical systems.
• Direct and mentor engineering staff with clear detailoriented instructions and strong leadership presence.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with all project disciplines and stakeholders on a daily basis.
• When required coordinate with teams across Stantecs global offices.
• Liaise directly with Clients Statutory Authorities and other third parties representing the discipline professionally.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of project budgeting requirements and support project or bid development as needed.
• Show ownership for team quality project timelines and successful delivery outcomes.
• Maintain all project documentation in full compliance with Stantec systems processes and procedures.
• Anticipate challenges and project risks recommending appropriate mitigation measures and communicating them internally to the Commercial Team and externally to Clients/Client Representatives where necessary.
• Mentor junior and midlevel engineers to develop technical proficiency and design competency.
• Demonstrate the ability to act as a discipline-specific Senior Design Engineer as defined by Stantec procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• A disciplinespecific Mechanical Building Services Engineer with demonstrable career progression and proven leadership of design teams.
• 12 years of postgraduate experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Middle East preferably within the UAE.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills capable of delivering clear concise and detailed directions to engineering staff.
• Full understanding of standard industry software relevant to HVAC and building services design.
• Experience working with international consultants.
• Experience working within a team environment of 10 personnel.
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
