Job Summary:
The Team Manager/VP in Private Banking is responsible for leading motivating and developing a team of Private Bankers (Relationship Managers) to achieve ambitious business targets/KPIs deliver exceptional client service and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in the bank and in the United Arab Emirates. This permanent role requires a strong understanding of wealth management products and services excellent leadership skills and a proven track record in client acquisition and retention within the private segment of clients including high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals. The Team Manager acts as a mentor coach and subject matter expert fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership and Management including:
- Lead coach and motivate the team of Private Bankers to exceed individual and team revenue asset under management (AUM) and client acquisition targets;
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members;
- Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for the team;
- Foster a positive collaborative and high-performance culture within the team;
- Manage team capacity resource and workload allocation to optimize efficiency and productivity;
- Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new Private Bankers.
2. Business Development and Revenue Generation including:
- Drive the implementation of sales strategies and initiatives to achieve business objectives;
- Monitor team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to senior management;
- Support Private Bankers in developing and executing client acquisition and retention strategies;
- Act as an escalation point for complex client issues or opportunities;
- May directly manage a certain portfolio of key UHNW clients and assist team members with complex client relationships;
- Identify market opportunities and collaborate with product management and other teams in the bank to develop tailored solutions for private clients.
3. Client Relationship Management (Steering and Oversight) including:
- Ensure that the team delivers a superior client experience anticipating client needs and providing personalized wealth management solutions;
- Oversee the management of client portfolios ensuring alignment with client risk profiles and financial goals;
- Promote cross-selling opportunities for various banking products and services;
- Address and resolve high-level client complaints or concerns promptly and effectively.
4. Oversee Risk Management and Compliance including:
- Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies procedures and external regulatory requirements (e.g. AML KYC FATCA and other applicable policies and procedures);
- Monitor team activities to ensure compliance with ethical standards and professional conduct;
- Identify and mitigate potential operational and financial risks within the teams activities;
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate their implications to the team;
- Conduct regular reviews of client portfolios and transactions to ensure compliance completeness and accuracy of data.
5. Strategic Planning and Collaboration including:
- Contribute to the development and execution of the business strategy for the private banking unit/division;
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Product Management Operations Legal Compliance and other departments) to deliver integrated and best-fitting client solutions;
- Provide market intelligence and client feedback to product development and senior management;
- Participate in management meetings and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Business Administration or a related field;
- Masters degree (MBA) and relevant professional certifications (e.g. CFA CFP CISI) are preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 (eight) years of experience in private banking wealth management or a related financial services role working with and addressing financial requirements of high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals;
- Proven track record of success in managing and leading a team of financial professionals (minimum of 3 (three) years in a relevant leadership role);
- Demonstrated ability to acquire develop and retain HNW and UHNW clients;
- In-depth knowledge of investment products (equities fixed income mutual funds alternative investments) credit solutions and wealth planning strategies in the UAE market. An ideal candidate shall be already based in the United Arab Emirates with in-depth knowledge of the UAE banking/financial services market and the strong network of HNW and UHNW potential clients.
