PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Construction Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of construction projects ensuring that they are completed on time within budget and to the required quality standards. This role requires a strong background in construction engineering with a focus on site supervision coordination and quality control. The ideal candidate will have experience in a contracting environment preferably in the UAE and be able to manage multiple project aspects from planning through to completion.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Supervise and manage construction activities onsite to ensure that the project is progressing as per the approved schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with the project management team subcontractors suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health safety and environmental regulations onsite.
- Conduct regular inspections of the construction site to monitor the quality of work adherence to specifications and identification of any issues or delays.
- Review construction drawings plans and specifications ensuring that work is being executed in line with design and contractual requirements.
- Manage and resolve onsite construction issues including technical problems delays and resource allocation.
- Monitor project performance and progress preparing daily/weekly reports for management and proactively addressing any risks to timelines and budget.
- Ensure that materials and equipment are available onsite as per the construction schedule coordinating with procurement and logistics teams.
- Collaborate with project engineers and site supervisors to ensure smooth execution and integration of different disciplines (civil mechanical electrical etc.).
- Assist in cost control and budget management tracking and reporting on project costs and identifying areas for cost savings.
- Participate in the preparation of extension of time (EOT) claims variations and other contractual documentation.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of local construction regulations codes and industry best practices.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Must have 7 years of experience in the construction industry with a preference for contracting experience in the GCC and UAE.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods project management principles and contract administration.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings specifications and contracts.
- Experience with project management software and tools (e.g. MS Project Primavera P6).
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to manage subcontractors engineers and workers effectively.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to resolve onsite issues quickly.
- Sound knowledge of health safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong communication skills for reporting to senior management and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
