DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides domain knowledge input during the pre-purchase stage of all biomedical equipment.
- Performs inspection, inventory procedures and machine marking for incoming new equipment, prior to use.
- Provides technical assistance, training and instruction to staff in the maintenance and operation of equipment.
- Carries out regular rounds and proper, systematic preventive maintenance of all biomedical equipments and ensures that the problems are rectified immediately.
- Maintains a regularly updated inventory of all biomedical equipment in the hospital.
- Analyzes equipment for failure, faults or malfunctions based on application of test instruments and reference to technical literature and schematics.
- Interprets engineering and vendor information, schematic diagrams and graphic illustrations utilizing clinical, physiologic and electronic principles.
- Provides engineering and technical advice to ensure compliance with electrical and other safety standards and prepare reports as required.
- Coordinates and evaluates the work performed by service contractors to include maintenance, calibration, installation and verification of service documentation.
- Prepares and enters data in logs, reports, databases, forms and equipment records concerning inspections, repairs and equipment condition and operation.
- Conducts and assesses safety and risk assessment together with the FMS teams and develops measures to counter them.
- Prepares requisitions for spare parts procurement from stores/manufacturer.
- Liaisons with other departments and higher management.
- Vendor management and development with particular reference to vendors who can repair PCB's major assemblies that companies ask to replace at high costs.
- As a member of the FMS committee, actively contributes to develop manuals, policies and procedures relevant to the biomedical department.
- Collects monitoring data for the medical equipment management program.
- Develops and coordinates departmental quality initiatives.
- Adheres to the safety norms of the hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rules.
- Updates biomedical knowledge by attending seminars and workshops regarding new equipments.
- Performs other related duties as and when assigned by the Medical Administrator

QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:
- B.E. (Biomedical) or Masters of applied Science in Bio-Medical Instrumentation or Equivalent Degree / Fellowship.
- Two years experience in maintenance involving applications preferably in Medical Electronics.
- Good knowledge of English to read and understand technical literature and schematics.
- Well versed with computer skills like Word & Excel
