Responsibilities:
- Preparation of planning documents including Master Plans, Thoroughfare Plans and Non-motorized Plans
- Preparation of grant applications for various clients and project types
- Preparation of safety plans
- Assistance with following the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for design projects
- Assistance with following the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) for design projects
- Work on Planning and Environmental Linkage Studies (PEL) and Environmental Assessments (EA)
- Assistance with public engagement activities on a variety of projects
- Assistance with report preparation for traffic and transportation related projects
- Maintaining a close relationship with the client throughout project development and continuing client contact after project is completed
- Work with various staff members on projects
- Assisting in the presentation of proposals to clients, selection of a project team and estimating time required to complete a project
- Familiarity with completing projects within developed project scope and available resources
- Prepare meeting materials for governing bodies.
You should have the following:
- Willingness to participate in a team-oriented environment as well as function independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Developing the capability to manage multiple projects so as to be completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems
- Previous experience in planning (co-op/internships would be fine)
Will work heavily on Transportation projects for the first 3-6 months, but then would have an opportunity to support other projects such as Municipal/Government, Asset Management, and/or Environmental projects.

- Bachelors in Urban Planning or similar field
- 1 plus years of planning experience (co-op/internship experience would suffice)
- Exposure to municipal and/or MDOT projects
- Writing skills
