Summary:
A Material engineer will work closely with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Designers, Manufacturing personnel, Vendors, Clients, Project Managers, and others. You will create, improve, verify, and maintain material specifications in support of the Company s projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review MTR s, manufacturing process plans, NDE procedures, weld procedure specifications from vendors to ensure compliance to code and client specifications
- Assist the senior welding and material engineers in supporting new forging and welding qualifications.
- Update and maintain Trendsetter material specifications
- Update and maintain Trendsetter coating specifications
- Review client specifications during tendering to identify gaps
- Assist in resolving NCR s related to materials and welding
- Participate in client audits and reviews
- Be familiar with Company HSE policies and procedures.
- Share knowledge & best practice across the company.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field
- 0 3 years work experience, preferred. Candidates with more years of experience will also be considered if the experience is subsea industry specific.
- Familiarity with forging process, heat treatment, destructive and non-destructive testing
- Experience with standard test methods for mechanical testing
- Direct experience reviewing mill test reports, manufacturing process plans, NDE procedures and weld procedure specifications
- Experience with welding (AWS D1.1/D1.1M, ASME Section IX, API RP 1104) is a plus
- Experience with epoxy coating systems is a plus
- Must be flexible and able to work autonomously as well as under direction.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with MS Office or similar software is required.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with changing priorities is necessary.
