Job Description

Facilities Supervisor responsibilities_

• Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity ) and refurbishments
• Develop and implement facilities management procedures and policies
• Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
• Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
• Manage all facilities staff and external contractors
• Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed
• Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors
• Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilities needs
• Handles community relations with the fire department, police department, rescue, municipal and State government as well as local
• Enforces office delegation policy and manages selection and purchasing process for all office furnishings
• Develop and implement Facilities and Business Continuity Plan (BCP)

• Available during off hours as needed to address emergencies

Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities_

• Responsible for ensuring the implementation of COVID_19 and other health prevention measures
• Perform routine inspections of the facility, reporting safety concerns observed into the corporate management system and ensuring safety concerns get resolved in a timely manner
• Ensure that any significant incidents at the facility are properly reported and documented in the corporate incident management system, investigated, root cause(s) determined, and corrective actions are identified and
• Ensure that OSHA recordable injuries occurring at the facility are recorded on the facility OSHA 300A log, the annual report is submitted to OSHA by the deadline, and the log is posted at the facility during the required time period
• Review and maintain site HSE policies and procedures as necessary to ensure they are kept up to date as necessary
• Ensure that required HSE training, such as hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), life critical procedures, is provided to facility employees
• Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the R&D lab’s Chemical Hygiene Plan at least annually and update as necessary
• Develop emergency response plan for inclement weather or other critical impacts to operation
• Serve as the facility emergency incident commander, ensuring the emergency response plan is kept up to date, staff are routinely trained in the facility emergency procedures, and emergency evacuation drills are held
• Manage the testing and maintenance of facility safety equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, fire detection/alarm, sprinkler systems and lab hood ventilation systems
• Manage the facility’s hazardous materials handling and hazardous waste disposal programs (HAZMAT certification required) in compliance with relevant regulations
• Serve as the facility representative/liaison on corporate_wide EHS communications affecting facility management issues, and attending HSE meetings as requested
• Responsible for reporting monthly HSE key performance indicators (KPI’s) to corporate HSE
• Serve as the company representative during regulatory compliance inspections of the facility, such as but not limited to, by the local fire department, NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
• Ensure compliance with the requirements of facility EHS permits, such as the air permit for the emergency generator

Skills and qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 8 years of combined experience
• Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
• Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
• Safety and HSE certifications including HAZMAT & OSHA
• Functional experience in operations, customer service and developing and implementing programs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of the organization, vendors and contractors
• Effective time management, organization, and prioritization abilities
• Keen attention to detail and efficient problem_solving skills
• Ability to lift equipment and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of
