The Purchasing Agent is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment for the company. Duties include negotiating deals with suppliers, researching possible item selections, taking inventory of current products and collecting multiple quotes from competing companies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders.
- Shop, order, and track the purchasing of equipment and supplies needed in the company.
- Deliver weekly purchase order report to supervisors that indicate the invoice numbers for all closed orders.
- Ensure all deliveries satisfy assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products.
Requirements
- Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communicator with supervisors, coworkers, customers and suppliers.
- Excellent negotiation skills to obtain the best pricing.
- Prior purchasing experience required.
- Minimum 3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing, construction, or distribution environment.
- Must be able to move throughout the shipping and receiving department and/or an open-air warehouse.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
A minimum of 5 10 years material handling or pallet rack experience is required.
