Restaurant General Manager

Experience a GM or AGM for trendy high-end concept, international groups of lifestyle restaurants


POSITION PURPOSE:

Directs and coordinates all departments and major divisions of business organization, and aids chief administrative officers in formulating and administering organization policies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all Divisional department activities to develop and implement long range goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives.
  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Oversees departments to review production and operating reports and resolve operational, and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays to meet future growth.
  • Confers with subordinate administration and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Reviews and approves preparation of accounting analysis: for budgetary planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting, budgetary planning and submittal for capital expenditures.
  • Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning to develop new markets.

OTHER:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the organization. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Company rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities. Employees who violate rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:

  • Manages and directs all staff.
  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting is required to file throughout the workday.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent

Experience Required:

  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certificates:

  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Grooming:

  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Company standards.
