The Colour Matcher is responsible for the precise formulation colour matching and tinting of paints in accordance with customer-supplied colour standards and specifications. This role ensures that the final product meets both visual and technical requirements before production and delivery. The incumbent plays a vital role in supporting lab operations including maintaining cleanliness adhering to safety standards and ensuring equipment is properly handled. The Colour Matcher is expected to work independently follow instructions from the supervisor or manager and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in quality and efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and regulations maintain a safe working environment and take responsibility for both personal and workplace safety at all times.
- Ensure proper usage maintenance and storage of laboratory personal protective equipment (PPE) and consumables in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
- Accurately perform colour matching of paints based on customer-supplied standards and specifications.
- Formulate and produce touch-up paints aligned with approved customer specifications.
- Document colour formulations comprehensively and clearly noting any specific requirements or deviations.
- Conduct quality control evaluations on all matched samples prior to dispatch to ensure conformance with quality and visual standards.
- Enter and manage formulation data within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system ensuring consistency and traceability.
- Systematically organize and archive all colour matches and relevant data in the laboratory for future reference.
- Monitor the operational status of all laboratory equipment and ensure regular maintenance in line with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Maintain a clean organized and hazard-free work environment in the laboratory at all times.
- Prepare and circulate accurate daily activity reports to the designated supervisory personnel in a timely manner.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or department manager in alignment with operational needs.
Integrated Management System (IMS) Responsibilities:
- Recognize and observe IMS policy.
- Comply with integrated management system (IMS) policy to improve work process.
- Comply and implement the controls required to mitigate the risks involved in the workplaces and surrounding areas.
- Implement EHS and Energy Operational controls in the workplace.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in chemistry Paint Technology or a related scientific field; alternatively 1-2 years of relevant experience in colour matching or paint formulation.
- Strong technical knowledge in paint formulation tinting and colour matching with a sound understanding of raw materials and colour science principles.
- Full visual perception across the colour spectrum with demonstrated ability to match and adjust colours precisely using available materials.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret and communicate technical results effectively.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment with adherence to safety and quality protocols including proficiency in using colour matching instruments spectrophotometers and standard laboratory equipment.
- Competence in using standard office equipment and software particularly Microsoft tools.
- Strong attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple formulations and records accurately.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced quality-focused environment.
