Desired candidate profile
1. Structural Design and Analysis
- Design Structures: Develop detailed designs for new structures or modifications to existing structures, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and safety requirements.
- Conduct Structural Analysis: Use advanced engineering software and methodologies to analyze the strength, stability, and durability of structures under various loads (e.g., live loads, dead loads, seismic, wind, etc.).
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials (concrete, steel, timber, etc.) based on the project's needs and budget while considering factors like strength, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
- Load and Stress Analysis: Perform calculations to assess the impact of different loads on the structural components and ensure they can withstand real-world forces.
2. Site Inspections and Condition Assessments
- Inspect Existing Structures: Conduct on-site inspections of existing buildings, bridges, or infrastructure to assess their current condition, identify damage, and recommend repairs or upgrades.
- Evaluate Structural Integrity: Perform thorough evaluations to determine whether structures are safe to use or require modifications to meet current safety standards.
- Prepare Condition Reports: Document findings from inspections, providing detailed reports on the condition of structures and offering solutions for remedial action.
3. Project Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with Other Disciplines: Work closely with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure that structural designs are integrated seamlessly into the overall project.
- Coordination with Contractors: Oversee construction processes, ensuring that structural elements are built according to the approved designs and specifications.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all structural designs and modifications comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
4. Structural Detailing
- Prepare Drawings and Specifications: Produce detailed structural drawings and specifications for construction, ensuring that they clearly communicate the design intent and construction requirements.
- Provide Technical Guidance: Offer guidance to the design team and contractors regarding the interpretation of structural drawings, materials, and construction methods.
- Design Detailing: Focus on the smaller, critical details of a project, such as connections, reinforcements, and load-bearing structures.
