Roles and responsibilities
1. Advanced Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
- Complex Problem Solving: Diagnose complex or difficult technical issues that other technicians cannot resolve, using advanced tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical expertise.
- System Analysis: Analyze machinery, systems, or vehicles to identify problems that may not be immediately visible or are beyond the scope of standard maintenance.
- Repair Guidance: Provide in-depth advice on how to address technical challenges and ensure that repairs are done to the highest standards.
2. Performing High-Level Repairs and Maintenance
- Precision Repairs: Perform intricate repairs or overhauls on systems or machinery, such as engine diagnostics and repair, transmission work, or avionics.
- Component Replacement: Replace or repair key components such as electrical systems, engines, or other complex parts requiring specialized knowledge and tools.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance schedules to avoid equipment failure, prolong system life, and maintain optimal performance.
3. Leadership and Mentorship
- Team Leadership: Lead and oversee a team of technicians, providing guidance, direction, and expertise to ensure that repairs are done correctly and efficiently.
- Training and Mentoring: Mentor junior technicians and apprentices, offering training in advanced diagnostic techniques, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
- Quality Assurance: Review and inspect the work of other technicians to ensure repairs meet company and industry standards, providing feedback and corrective action where necessary.
4. Customer Interaction
- Customer Communication: Interact with customers to explain complex technical issues, provide accurate estimates for repairs, and offer solutions for their vehicle or equipment.
- Providing Estimates: Give accurate time and cost estimates for repairs and ensure customers are kept informed about progress and delays.
- Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that customer concerns are addressed and that the highest level of service is provided, building customer trust and satisfaction.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Service Records: Maintain detailed records of repairs, diagnostics, parts used, and any other relevant information in accordance with company and legal standards.
- Repair Logs: Document all services performed, including specifics about issues diagnosed and how they were resolved, to ensure future reference and warranty protection.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all repairs and services meet regulatory and safety standards, following industry guidelines and best practices.
6. Continuous Learning and Development
- Stay Updated: Keep current with new technologies, tools, and techniques in the industry through ongoing education, training, and certification programs.
- Certifications: Continuously upgrade certifications, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) for automotive technicians, or other relevant certifications, to stay at the forefront of the field.
- Research New Technologies: Stay informed about emerging technologies, such as electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous systems, or renewable energy systems, depending on the industry focus.
Desired candidate profile
- Diagnose complex system faults on Electric Vehicles, through to preventative maintenance
- Support, coach and guide other members of the team in the workshop by advising diagnosis procedures and efficient / correct work procedures
- Ensuring quality by producing extremely low level of return jobs
- Developing high level of communication by ensuring clear explanation of the work completed or required is well documented and clear to understand by Service Advisor, Technical Advisor, Technical Support and the Customer.
- Undertake great effort to improve efficiency by providing constructive inputs regarding work process, procedure, work environment, tools and equipment etc.
- Making safe electric vehicles to be worked on by junior technicians
- Provide technical input to spare parts staff to assist in correct part and tooling identification and supply
- Maintain safe working environment for anyone work on or near electric vehicles, working closely with HSSE and providing recommendations as required
Required skills to be successful:
- In depth knowledge and experience of EV components and systems both high and low voltage
- Master Technician certification or industry equivalent
- Able to support, coach and guide other members of the team in the workshop
- Up to date with the latest technology used in EV cars
About The Team:
The role will report to the Aftersales Manager and you will be working in a busy EV workshop environment.
What Equips You For The Role:
- 5-7 years’ experience as Diagnostic Technician, retail automotive experience.
- Valid UAE driving license
