Job Description

Designation: Commissioning Engineer Water & Wastewater Treatment

Responding to: Project Manager

Position Overview: We are looking for a detailoriented and experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning testing and initial operation of water and wastewater treatment plants. This role requires technical expertise in treatment processes system optimization and documentation along with the ability to collaborate across teams and drive efficient safe and reliable plant operations.

Salary: 8k to 10k AED

Experience: 5 to 8 years

Key Skills:

  1. Commissioning Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive commissioning plan aligning with project goals and timelines to achieve optimal plant performance.
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to establish requirements standards and quality benchmarks for commissioning stages.
  2. Operational Readiness & System Verification:
    • Conduct thorough precommissioning assessments to verify the functionality and readiness of mechanical electrical and instrumentation systems in the plant.
    • Confirm compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards performing final checks on all major plant systems.
  3. OnSite Testing & Optimization:
    • Oversee the setup testing and optimization of all treatment processes including biological chemical and physical treatment stages to ensure operational efficacy.
    • Conduct realtime adjustments to system settings ensuring efficient process flows treatment effectiveness and energy optimization.
  4. Control System & Automation Integration:
    • Coordinate the commissioning of control systems including PLCs SCADA and other automation platforms ensuring seamless integration with mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Implement control loops and conduct validation tests to confirm accurate data reporting remote access functionality and reliable system responses.
  5. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
    • Lead root cause analysis for system issues or failures during commissioning applying technical knowledge to troubleshoot resolve and prevent recurring issues.
    • Provide immediate responses to onsite technical challenges adjusting procedures as needed to ensure safe and continuous commissioning progress.
  6. Team Leadership & Safety Compliance:
    • Supervise and support the commissioning team guiding their work in line with project schedules safety protocols and quality standards.
    • Enforce compliance with health safety and environmental regulations leading regular safety checks and risk assessments for site activities.
  7. Documentation & Handover Preparation:
    • Develop comprehensive documentation for commissioning procedures operational manuals and maintenance plans ensuring they align with industry standards and client expectations.
    • Prepare accurate log sheets inspection reports and technical documentation for handover ensuring all systems are operational and maintained for future plant management.
  8. Training & Knowledge Transfer:
    • Train client teams and plant operators on system operation troubleshooting techniques and preventive maintenance providing a smooth handover to local staff.
    • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions including emergency response procedures and equipment operation guidelines to ensure plant staff readiness.
  9. Continuous Improvement & System Evaluation:
    • Identify opportunities to optimize and enhance plant systems making recommendations for process improvements or upgrades based on commissioning observations.
    • Contribute insights into system design and operation that could enhance future project performance efficiency and sustainability.
  10. Coordination with Stakeholders:
    • Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders providing regular updates on commissioning progress challenges and adjustments.
    • Act as a liaison between engineering construction and client teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and plant functionality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in water and wastewater treatment processes with handson experience in commissioning and operational optimization.
  • Proficiency with control systems automation (PLC/SCADA) and process troubleshooting will be added advantage.

  • Analytical and problemsolving mindset with a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective team collaboration and stakeholder coordination.
