Senior Process Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

• Reporting to the Lead Process Engineer, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned process engineering work scopes.
• To carry out process discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil & gas production facilities.
• To plan, budget, organize, and control a segment of the process engineering deliverables for the project.
• To prepare process deliverables for a project in the oil and gas industry and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures.
• To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
• To provide direction and guidance on all process engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties.
• To liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion.
• To promote safe behaviour at all times.
• To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.
• To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
• To assist in the coordination of all activities related to process engineering design.
• To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Minimum of 10 years’ proven capability in an engineering design company.
• Operational support / construction and commissioning experience.
• Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.

Desired candidate profile

• Process Design Expertise: In-depth knowledge of process design methodologies, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, MATLAB) for modeling and analyzing complex processes.

• Project Management Skills: Strong ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.

• Analytical Skills: Ability to assess process data, conduct feasibility studies, and identify areas for improvement.

• Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers, to ensure integrated design and execution.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines to ensure compliance in process design.

• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify process inefficiencies and develop innovative solutions to enhance performance.

• Documentation Skills: Proficiency in preparing technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and project deliverables.

• Quality Assurance: Understanding of quality management systems and processes to ensure that designs meet required specifications and standards.

• Mentorship: Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and enhancing team capabilities.
