Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The College of Business Administration (CBA) at Ajman University, has an opening for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance, starting in Spring 2023 or Fall 2024. The selected candidate will have primary teaching and research interests in Finance and will be expected to teach in graduate and undergraduate programs. The selected candidate will also be expected to actively engage with the business community. The College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in Finance or a related field obtained from an internationally reputable university, preferably accredited by AACSB
  • Three or more years of teaching experience in an internationally reputable university, preferably accredited by AACSB
  • Demonstrable record of excellence in teaching and curriculum development
  • Outstanding record of research and peer-reviewed publications in top journals (SCOPUS, ABDC, ABS)
  • Record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research would be an advantage
  • Demonstrable record of supervising student projects and dissertations
  • Excellent record in professional and community service

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, deliver and assess graduate and undergraduate courses in Finance
  • Engage in innovative and technology-based approaches to teaching and learning
  • Provide academic advising services to students
  • Conduct high quality research and publish research outcomes in reputable journals and conferences
  • Participate in committee and other service tasks at the department, college and/or university levels as assigned
  • Actively engage in promoting the growth and visibility of Ajman University
  • Provide consultancy and other industry-facing services to Ajman University partners and members of the business community
  • Actively seek out methods, procedures and resources to best achieve course and lesson objectives
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Desired candidate profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Familiarity with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel) and accounting principles.

Key Skills:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Customer service orientation for internal and external communications.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Basic understanding of financial regulations and compliance.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily financial operations, including invoicing and reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial reports and summaries.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
