- Examining vessels to determine their condition and determining whether they are ready to be put back into service
- Recording details about the condition of the boat, including photos or videos of the vessel and its interiors
- Reviewing maintenance records to determine whether proper procedures were followed
- Inspecting the structural integrity of boats by checking for cracked hulls or protruding nails or screws
- Performing tests to determine whether a vessel’s equipment is functioning properly
- Ascertaining whether a boat is seaworthy by checking for leaks, cracks, and other defects
- Inspecting equipment such as engines, steering mechanisms, fuel tanks, and electrical systems
- Evaluating the condition of boats to ensure they meet safety standards set by the Coast Guard or other regulatory bodies
- Inspecting vessels to identify structural damage, leaks, or other problems that may pose a danger to passengers or crew members
