ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and assists the Director of Finance & Accounting in providing financial leadership to the business including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes and internal controls
- Assist in development and implementation of accounting systems, methods, procedures and internal controls
- Coordinate more complex accounting projects, functions, and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
- Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records
- Supervise the Accounts Payable team
- Participate with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
- Assist with preparations for audits
- Ensure all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
- Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Related Field is required, with a background in the following industries:
- Restaurant
- Retail
- Property Development
- Real Estate Management
- Marina and Construction
- 3 to 5 years of Accounting experience
- CPA preferred
- Experience with system conversion and process re-engineering
- Strong understanding of complex entity accounting and consolidations, as well as intercompany account reconciliations and transactions
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized, with a proficiency in time management and task prioritization
- Preferred experience with Restaurant 365, NetSuites, or MRI Tenant Management systems
