The Rochester Tax practice at Insero is not a high volume 1040 practice but is instead a tax practice focusing on complex tax compliance and projects within Fortune 500 companies as well as tax consulting across small and middle market companies including: multi-state, multi-national, real estate, manufacturing (amongst other industries) ; Majority of our small business clients are in the 1-10 million sales volume and middle market practice are closely held businesses in the 20 million 200 million+ sales volume many of which have global and multi state

One would work directly with our Tax Mangers/Principals & Many of our larger clients were formerly served by the Big 4 and over 60% of our Tax revenue is consulting services; tax planning, R&D, SALT, Cost Segs, and tax provision

Responsibilities:

Preparing difficult business

Reviews tax returns/work files for completeness, accuracy and compliance; communicates with and trains staff on areas needing

Monitors tax deadlines to ensure that returns are prepared on a timely basis; communicates with managers during the preparation process to identify any tax issues needing addressing and to pull jobs so that they reach the technical review stage

Performs tax research and helps train staff to do the same; schedules annual tax research training session for all tax

Understanding and completing the steps in conducting research projects; preparing written conclusions, subject to Manager or Principal

Assisting audit and accounting staff with non-complex tax

Understanding tax

Responding to routine IRS or state tax

Training interns/staff to be able to prepare effective responses to tax notices and reviews for accuracy and supervising workflow of Tax Accountants/Interns on less complex

Identifying problems and opportunities for research or work other than

*Depending on ones Tax experience and area of interest, you could have the opportunity to work in the following areas:

-Preparation and/or review of complex corp/business tax returns and the individual shareholders returns

-ASC 740 - accounting for income tax (FAS 109 work)

-Transactional work such as acquisitions & divestitures

-Tax Research

-Corporate international tax - transactions with foreign entities

-Identifying tax savings strategies for clients

Requirements

Bachelors degree (Masters in Tax is a plus) in accounting is A CPA license is a plus; along with a minimum of 3 years tax experience working in a public accounting Qualified candidates will have experience with all different entity Ideal tax experience servicing middle market and/or large company clients with a background in Partnerships, S Corporations, and C ; A minimum of an additional 2 years senior/supervisory experience is required for a supervisor/management level Candidates must be proactive in tax planning A proven record of building sustainable client Have a working knowledge of Paperless systems such as GoFileRoom and tax software such as ProSystems or Have a professional demeanor with excellent communication Enjoy working with people and understand the importance of nurturing and building the firms Be ethical, conscientious, detail oriented, and well
