Who you are:

You are a Senior Research Engineer (Applied RL) implementing the most innovative AI or cognitive computing technologies in order to solve identified business problems, and helping in the execution of technologies for commercial deployment? The RE s goal is to develop and implement state-of-the-art algorithms while building simple and sustainable software solutions. Among the tasks they are responsible for: working on novel research ideas, developing prototype applications, providing software design, and implementing software libraries.

Requirements

• Create momentum around new initiatives and set the technical direction for solving hard technical problems.
  
• Help set technical directions within a research project, provide mentorship to colleagues, and take on larger and more complex research and engineering problems.
  
• Develop novel algorithms and research ideas in fields such as reinforcement learning and operational research with machine learning that best leverage modern hardware and distributed systems
  
• Manage other engineers or become a go-to expert in one or more technical areas (s).
  
• Report and present experimental results and research findings clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally, orally and in writing in English.
  
• Suggest and engage in team collaborations to meet the Engineering Department s goals.
  
• Upon request, collaborate with the business development team in their pre-sales activities, including but not limited to presenting the company to new prospective clients, and representing InstaDeep in conferences/events.
  

What you will need:

• At least 3 years of experience in Machine Learning, including 2 in Reinforcement Learning or a PhD in Reinforcement Learning or a related field
  
• Experience with management, mentoring, and coaching small to medium teams and/or leading projects.
  
• M.S./Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Operational Research, Reinforcement learning, or related field.
  
• Experience in developing and debugging production-level Python or similar languages. Knowledge of C/C++ is a strong plus.
  
• Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, e.g. through discussions, whiteboards, design docs, presentations, etc..
  
• Experience mentoring and coaching engineers, and contributing to an inclusive engineering community.
  
• Experience using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Jax, and/or Keras.
  
• Experience with storage systems, distributed systems, HPC, compilers, and/or CUDA programming is a strong plus.
