Design And Engineering Director

One of our esteemed clients in the Shipbuilding industry is currently seeking a Design and Engineering Director with 12 years of experience alligning to the shipbuilding industry to be based in Dammam Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Overview

Manage the Design & Engineering activities related to subsidiaries including the development operations and design plans whilst ensuring the effective oversight on the compliance to set standards.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Align division goals processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy while maintaining awareness of commercial and business objectives.
• Ensure the accomplishment of organizational unit objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating organizational unit activities.
• Define objectives identifies and evaluates trends and options chooses a course of action and evaluates outcomes.
• Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements preparing an annual budget scheduling expenditures analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
• Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems and recommending system improvements.
• Support with strategic problems resolution and subjective decision making.

Managerial Responsibilities

• Supervise the entire work done by the team members and making sure it is completed on time without any delay.
• Lead the team to complete tasks and meet goals through delegation of responsibilities and supervising business operations.
• Set the vision and motivation of the team in order to achieve the sought objectives efficiently.
• Set appropriate and achievable deadlines.
• Track and report critical organizational unit performance results and escalate and negotiate business related issues to senior management.
• Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations planning monitoring and appraising job results.

Functional Responsibilities

• Implement strategy and plans for group research and development activity including conceptual design activity.
• Coordinate groupwide engagement of ship classification societies.
• Manage the oversight of shipyard requirements in coordination with Infrastructure Execution and Oversight.
• Support problem issue identification and rectification of subsidiary shipbuilding and MRO operations.
• Ensure effective monitoring of development operations to ensure the delivery in a timely and costly efficient manner.
• Monitor compliance to group technical policy of subsidiary design and engineering strategies plans and activities.
• Manage the oversight of the development of contractual requirements in projects in coordination with the Infrastructure Execution & Oversight
• Manage the oversight of the implementation and quality of the design plans and report on any deviation from design and ensure providing proper mitigation actions.
• Manage the oversight of the shipbuilding conversion repair and MRO activities in the subsidiaries operations whilst ensuring competence and effectiveness in the process.
• Manage the oversight of effective transportation installation testing and commissioning/ handover of new infrastructure properties equipment etc.
• Ensure quality standards for materials workmanship and final product are implemented.
• Manage the oversight on the compliance with relevant local and international standards throughout operations including health safety and security in alignment with HSEQ & QA function.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or any other similar field.
• 12 years of experience in shipbuilding design or any other related field including 6 years in a leadership role.
• Masters Degree in Engineering or any other similar field is preferred.
