Job Description :
Accountants are responsible for a wide variety of finance-related tasks that are primarily associated with preparing financial records. These tasks oftentimes include computing taxes and preparing tax returns, organizing and maintaining financial records, and ensuring statements are accurate.

Responsibilities :
1. Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance
2. Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. GAAP, FASB), rules, regulations, and systems of internal control
3. Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines
4. Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information
5. Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes

Qualification :
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
2. 2-5 years of accounting/finance experience
3. Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Financial Accounting – Applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to compile and analyze financial information into various financial statements and accounting reports. Makes appropriate journal entries in the general ledger by checking calculations, reviewing the basis for figures, and balancing and reconciling figures.
  • Cost Accounting & Budget Management – Maintains construction budgets for all aspects of the project life cycle. Completes various forecasting and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of job cost reports. Assists construction directors in effectively managing project budgets, billings, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Project Abstracts – Develop a general understanding of the underlying agreements for assigned projects. Works to become familiar with the specific sections that are relevant to better understand the overall structure, including commitments, cost classifications, AIA documents, GMP and lender requirements, and project fees.
  • Customer Relationships - Establishes and maintains professional communication with all internal and external project stakeholders. Ensures customer satisfaction by responding to various requests from external investors, lenders, and others related to financial reports, and construction draws.
  • Training / Supervision – Demonstrates management and leadership skills while training and supervising new staff including interns. Effectively communicates to accounting managers areas of improvement within current procedures and helps to develop an SOP for new processes.
  • Cash Management – Accurately and timely manages all assigned cash accounts. Performs monthly bank reconciliations, wire transfers, deposits, and other payment processes to ensure vendors are paid promptly. Effectively works with construction teams to accurately forecast cash needs.
  • Collaboration – Establishes and maintains professional communication with all internal and external project stakeholders. Develops good working relationships with other departments including but not limited to; Accounts Payable, Finance, Development, and Construction. Takes the lead to help train new hires to ensure they’re integrated into learning the accounting processes.
  • Annual Audits - Acts as liaison to internal and external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions. Provides research data and information as requested and answers questions necessary to complete the audit promptly.
