Design & Estimation Engineer Smoke Management System

Job Summary:
We are seeking a commercially aware and technically proficient Design & Estimation Engineer Smoke Management System to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical design estimation and presales support for smoke management systems across building projects delivering compliant costeffective and buildable solutions.

Key Responsibilities Design Estimation & Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the technical point of contact for smoke management enquiries providing expert advice on system architecture smoke control strategies fans dampers sensors ductwork and integration with other building services and lifesafety systems to meet client requirements and regulatory standards.

• Support the sales and estimation teams with presales activities including site surveys technical clarifications client meetings product demonstrations and preparation of detailed proposals scope documents and quotations for smoke management works.

• Produce and review design deliverables such as concept layouts duct and fan schedules control strategies schematic drawings and specification notes to ensure solutions are technically robust costed correctly and programmeaware.

• Work closely with design installation commissioning and supply chain teams to review drawings verify buildability validate system configuration and ensure coordinated delivery across disciplines.

• Develop and present technical and commercial solutions to clients and internal stakeholders including value engineering options that improve bid competitiveness and project margin.

• Maintain accurate records of site surveys design decisions correspondence and client requirements within the companys CRM and project management systems.

• Identify technical issues or risks early analyse root causes propose pragmatic solutions and coordinate implementation with relevant teams to protect programme cost and compliance outcomes.

• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases including attending site meetings reviewing installation queries and assisting with handover documentation and operational guidance for end users.

Qualifications & Experience Selling Skills Technical Knowledge & Communication

• Relevant technical qualification in building services mechanical engineering fire engineering or a related discipline is desirable.

• Typically25 years experience working with smoke management systems smoke control ventilation design or related building services disciplines with demonstrable technical input to design or estimation activities.

• Proven selling skills with experience supporting presales activities preparing client proposals and presenting technical/commercial solutions.

• Strong technical knowledge of smoke control principles fans dampers controls sensors ductwork and applicable standards/regulations with the ability to read and interpret drawings and produce control schematics.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills capable of conveying complex technical information clearly to clients consultants and internal teams.

• Demonstrable problemsolving mindset with the ability to assess design or estimation issues propose pragmatic solutions and drive corrective actions that improve project outcomes.

• Proficiency with CAD drawings spreadsheets CRM and project management systems; familiarity with smoke modelling software ventilation calculation tools and estimating packages is advantageous.

• Valid driving licence and willingness to attend site visits supplier meetings and client presentations as required.
