About the Role
This role sits at the heart of the companys Casualty & Financial Lines growth strategy. The Underwriter will assess price and structure reinsurance risks actively managing portfolio performance while building strong relationships with brokers and capacity providers. Working from DIFC the role offers direct involvement in shaping underwriting strategy developing new markets and ensuring profitable compliant and technically sound reinsurance underwriting across international portfolios.
Responsibilities
Underwriting & Pricing
- Assess reinsurance risks across Casualty & Financial Lines
- Price and structure covers within authority limits
- Apply market benchmarks and loss data
Portfolio Control
- Manage profitability and loss ratios
- Monitor exposure accumulation
- Support renewal and remediation actions
Governance & Compliance
- Apply underwriting guidelines and binders
- Maintain DFSA regulatory compliance
- Support internal governance reviews
Broker & Market Relationships
- Build strong broker partnerships
- Support placement negotiations
- Attend client and market meetings
Reporting & Management Information
- Prepare underwriting performance reports
- Present renewal and portfolio analyses
- Support management decision-making
Growth & Development
- Identify growth opportunities
- Support new product initiatives
- Contribute to business planning and strategy
Qualification and Experience
- Degree-qualified in Insurance Risk Management or a related field
- 710 years hands-on underwriting experience in Casualty & Financial Lines
- ACII CII CPCU or similar professional qualification advantageous
- Practical experience with facultative and treaty reinsurance programmes
- Strong grasp of pricing wordings and market benchmarks
- Track record of managing profitable reinsurance portfolios
- GCC expeience required
