DescriptionPosition Summary
The Wine Sommelier is responsible for curating an exceptional wine program delivering expert recommendations and enhancing the overall guest experience through superior knowledge of wines and beverage trends. This role requires a passionate articulate professional with Michelin-level experience and a strong ability to drive revenue through strategic wine sales and pairing suggestions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an outstanding wine list that reflects global trends and complements the outlets culinary offerings.
- Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to guests ensuring an elevated dining experience.
- Train and mentor service staff on wine knowledge tasting techniques and upselling strategies.
- Monitor wine inventory manage procurement and ensure proper storage and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with chefs and mixologists to create innovative food and beverage pairings.
- Organize wine tastings events and promotional activities to engage guests and drive sales.
- Maintain compliance with health safety and licensing regulations.
- Support the Market-to-Farm philosophy by sourcing sustainable artisanal wines and fostering relationships with boutique vineyards and local suppliers.
- Spend approximately 70% of time in Market Kitchen and 30% across other outlets to set up wine lists provide recommendations and train outlet managers and staff on wine knowledge and service standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years experience as a Sommelier in a Michelin-starred or luxury dining environment.
- Certified Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent) preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills; articulate and confident in guest interactions.
- Superior knowledge of global wine regions varietals and vintages.
- Understanding of mixology trends and ability to collaborate on beverage programs.
- Strong salesmanship and ability to influence guest choices to maximize revenue.
- Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
